United Family Network's mission is to bring you and your family real resources and up-to-date information every day. Our best efforts are applied to finding the most useful resources and information that offer the most Value to our members. We accomplish this by creating relationships with independent, outside resources, which we hope will help you.
United Family Network is a private, non-government, entity. Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. At United Family Network (“UFN”), we and our affiliated companies (collectively “we”, “us” and “our” throughout) want to make your experience online satisfying and safe.
WHAT INFORMATION UFN GATHERS
UFN gathers the following kinds of personal information when it is voluntarily
provided by our users: first and last name, street address, email addresses,
telephone numbers, date of birth, and gender.
UFN also gathers certain information during or after your visit to our website, including traffic information on our website and information regarding a member that has completed a transaction on a third party website where the member has been referred by us at the member's request.
HOW UFN GATHERS INFORMATION
United Family Network gathers information about users in several different ways:
1. Information users provide through optional "Voluntary Submissions."
These are voluntary submissions you provide in order to sign up for our website, receive our electronic newsletters, participate in our message boards or forums, email a friend, and from your participation in polls, comments and surveys.
We offer the following optional free services, which require voluntary submission of personal information by users:
a. Electronic newsletters policy (Dispatches).
We will offer a free electronic newsletter to users as well as email additional information and additional resources and offers to our members on a regular basis. United Family Network gathers the email addresses of users who voluntarily subscribe. Users can also subscribe to the newsletters at the time of registration. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link provided in every newsletter or email correspondence that points users to the subscription management page. They can also unsubscribe at any time by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and stating that they wish to unsubscribe from receiving the newsletter.
b. Message boards/forums policy.
Users of the site's Message Boards and Forums must register separately for these services (both are free of charge) in order to post messages, although they needn't register to visit the site. During registration the user is required to supply a username, password, and email address.
c. "E-mail this to a friend" policy.
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking "e-mail this to a friend". The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only to transmit the requested email, to let the recipient know who sent the email, and in case of transmission errors. The recipient's information is not retained or used for any other purpose.
d. Polling / Comments.
We may offer interactive polls and comments to users so they can easily provide their opinions to other users and see what our audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls and comments are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user other than the Member I.D. United Family Network may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with any information about individual users.
We may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our ` to our audience. We
may elect to provide the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with
our sponsors, advertisers and partners. We do not retain nor provide user specific
information from such surveys with any third party.
2. Information users specifically authorize us to provide to third parties.
When you submit a request for information or a quote, in response to a benefit, an ad or an offer presented on our website or in an email, you are granting your permission to be contacted by us and the specified third party offering the products or services that may be of interest to you. You will only be contacted via the telephone number you provide if you have given your prior express consent.
3. Information gathered through aggregated tracking.
This information is derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site. This information allows us to better tailor our content to readers' needs and to help our advertisers and sponsors better understand the demographics of our audience. Because United Family Network derives its revenue mainly from sponsorships and advertising, providing such aggregated demographic data is essential to keeping our service free to users.
United Family Network tracks user traffic patterns throughout our entire site. In addition, United Family Network sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We use such tracking information to determine which areas of our site users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.
4. Pixel notifications of transactions on referred third party websites.
If a user executes a transaction on a third party website where the member has been
referred by us at the member's request, we receive a pixel notification confirming
the transaction has taken place. No other personal information about the member,
including any credit card or other sensitive personal information, is transmitted to
us in connection with such notifications.
6. Google Analytics and Remarketing
We use a service provided by Google called Google Analytics (GA). GA permits us to reach people who have previously visited our site, and show them relevant advertisements when they visit other sites across the Internet in the Google Display Network. This is often called 'remarketing'. Cookies can be used to track your session on our website, to serve customized ads from Google and other third party vendors. When you visit this website, you may view advertisements posted on the site by Google or other third parties. Through first-party and third party cookies, these third parties may collect information about you while you are visiting this website and other websites. They may use this data to show you advertisements on this website and across the Internet obtained from your prior visits to this website and elsewhere on the Internet. We do not collect this information or control the content of the advertisements that you will see.
Opting Out of Google Analytics
You may be able to opt out of customized Google Display Network ads by visiting the Ads Preferences Manager (http://www.google.com/ads/preferences) and the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on ( http://www.google.ca/ads/preferences/plugin).
Your use of this website without opting out of the Google Display Network ads means that you understand and agree to this data collection to provide you with remarketing ads using GA and cookies from other third party vendors based on your visits to this website and elsewhere on the Internet.
USE OF INFORMATION
We use the above-described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and help our advertisers better understand our audience's demographics. This is essential to keeping our service free.
